Golden Hour Sunset & Christmas Lights Spectacular - Whales Sunshine Coast

one cruise… two spectacular experiences

Golden Hour Sunset & Christmas Lights Spectacular · December only · From Friday 4 December 2026

Departure times follow the sunset: 4–14 December, 6:00pm–7:30pm · 15–30 December, 6:15pm–7:45pm. Departs Kawana Waters Hotel.

Fantastic fun for families, couples, friends and visitors — golden hour over Mooloolaba Bay, then dazzling Christmas displays reflected across the water as we glide through the decorated canals.

Your evening on the water

Two spectacular experiences in one 1.5-hour cruise — here’s how the evening unfolds.

1. The Golden Hour Sunset Experience
We begin by cruising into the beautiful waters of Mooloolaba Bay, overlooking stunning Mooloolaba Beach. Enjoy around 30 minutes of golden hour magic as the sun sets and paints the coastline in golden hues — fresh ocean air and breathtaking views from The Explorer’s spacious decks.

2. Then the magic really begins
As daylight fades and the Christmas lights come alive, we cruise into the magnificent waterfront canals of Minyama and Buddina — beautifully decorated luxury homes, glowing rooftops, sparkling palm trees and colourful reflections dancing across the water.

⭐ One night only — Christmas Light Boat Parade, Saturday 12 December
The only night we run two departures: a second cruise sails 7:30–8:30pm, catching The Explorer’s cameo in the Christmas Light Boat Parade — the most festive night on the Mooloolaba waterways.

The Explorer is built for spectacular views — spacious viewing levels across the aft deck, open standing areas alongside the main cabin and a large bow viewing deck at the front.
